What should I expect on the first visit?

We will first welcome you to our office and you will fill out the standard paperwork. You can print out the forms under the patient’s tab and fill it out at home to save some time. The doctor will sit down with you and go over your case history and review any reports, x-rays or MRI’s that you may have brought with you. The doctors will check your spine, address your major complaint, and most times begin chiropractic correction on the first visit. This first visit generally includes soft tissue work, spinal and extremity work, a few stretches to get your started, and other recommendations like ice, heat, ergonomics, and supplementation if needed. The timing of the next visit will be determined after the first assessment and the recommended care plan will be provided on the second visit.

What kind of techniques do you use?

Dr. Michelle uses gentle, light-force adjusting techniques involving mostly manual/hands-on (adjustments) (methods) but also uses various instruments/equipment (Activator, Impulse, Thompson Drop Table, Sacro-Occipital Technique).

Dr. Sean’s technique includes a hands-on approach with joint mobilization, deep tissue trigger point work, active release for both muscles and joints, and specific spinal adjustments. His philosophy is based on complete body balancing which includes cranial sacral work and fascial releasing. This wholistic approach is extremely successful in quick relief of acute pain syndromes and the solving of chronic conditions.

Are you providers for Medicare?

We are out of network providers for Medicare Part B, but we do electronically file all Medicare claims directly to Medicare for you. Medicare patients pay an out-of-pocket reduced fee and receive partial reimbursement directly from Medicare.

Do you see children?

We love seeing kids of all ages – newborns to teens! Chiropractic care is effective in helping with symptoms such as scoliosis, growing pains, allergies, asthma, ear infections, migraines, postural imbalances from those heavy backpacks, tech neck, sports injuries, sprains/strains. One of the most important times to receive chiropractic check-ups is in childhood. Misalignments to the spine set the body up for a multitude of problems now and in the future. In our experience, when a child complains of pain there is usually a significant misalignment that has been occurring for months and should be checked.

Do you do soft-tissue work?

Yes, on everyone. Soft tissue is a a large part of our technique at The Chiropractic Associates. We believe there needs to be a balance between the soft tissue (muscles/tendons/ligaments) and the bones/joints. There is a delicate balance between these two components that creates a healthy functioning joint which ultimately improves nerve system flow.

Do you do Craniosacral work?

Yes. Craniosacral work involves a gentle touch to manipulate/massage the joints in the cranium/skull and sacrum/pelvis. It can feel tender at times but can also be very relaxing. A part of our routine adjustment includes the both cranial and sacral correction.

What best describes the nutrition you do in your office?

Dr. Sean uses a technique called Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) that utilizes muscle testing to accurately determine the course of care needed. The recommended supplements are intended to help clean, detox, and improve the function of body. There is a care plan that is given that includes re-testing to assess progress and changes in supplementation as needed. The diet plan is simple and focuses on increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables and teaching the patient about food choices and their impact on their health. This approach is about cleaning up the body, correcting digestive and urinary tract function, and then allowing the body to breakthrough any health challenge. Read more under Services and Nutrition.
